A family table in

161 Church St, Whitby

an old chapel

Italian

Cosa Nostra is our family's restaurant on Church Street, across the swing bridge on Whitby's old east side. We took on a grade II listed former chapel and filled it with chunky wood tables over two floors, a white staircase curving up to a gallery where you can look down over the whole room, chandeliers and all.

It gets busy and it gets lively, and we like it that way. Couples, families and holidaymakers who fancied something other than fish and chips, all under one tall green roof. We even run a LEGO building competition: build something, snap it and tag us.

Many mention the building itself: quirky levels and stairs, tables looking over the whole restaurant, and a buzz that gets properly lively at peak times.
